Building communities – seminars and forums

Seminar: “For a Community School”

How do music, the arts and perfoHow can the school be configured as a community device capable of promoting individual well-being, social relationships, and collective agency within educational and territorial contexts?rmative practices contribute to activating participatory, relational and symbolic processes within local communities?

In the seventh seminar of the Building Communities series, organised by the P.L.A.C.E. Research Laboratory for the 2025–2026 programme of the School of Performing Arts and Community Care, we will reflect on:

  • the concept of the school as a relational and territorial infrastructure, capable of acting as a bridge between formal, non-formal and informal educational practices;
  • the contribution of experimental pedagogy, educational mediation, and school policies to the creation of learning environments oriented towards care, inclusion, and participation;
  • the connections between individual well-being, social relationships, and community agency within school contexts, with particular attention to peripheral areas and local communities;
  • the role of schools and universities in educational co-design and in the enhancement of social and cultural resources within the territory.

Speakers:

  • Roberto Maragliano – Pedagogue and mediologist, formerly University of Roma Tre;
  • Paolo Aprile – School Principal and international education expert, I.P.S.E.O. “Aldo Moro”, Santa Cesarea Terme (LE);
  • Silvia Madaro – School Principal and European project designer, I.I.S.S. “A. De Pace”, Lecce;
  • Salvatore Colazzo – Experimental pedagogue and full professor, Università Mercatorum;
  • Demetrio Ria – Pedagogue and full professor, Università Telematica Pegaso.

Debate and discussion will be facilitated by members of the Research Laboratory.

The seminar will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online) and is open to all registered participants of the School of Performing Arts and Community Care, as well as the general public.
