Stefania D’Ascenzo

Stefania D’Ascenzo is a Tenure Track Researcher in Cognitive Psychology (PSIC-01A) at Pegaso
Telematic University – Department of Psychology and Health Sciences.
She obtained her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
She has worked at the University of Bologna, the University of Chieti-Pescara, and carried out a
research period at the University of Oslo.
Her main research interests include:
The study of cognitive processes involved in attentional orienting and cognitive control, including
spatial compatibility and the Simon effect, with particular focus on the mechanisms underlying
conflict processing and its interaction with emotions/arousal;
Affordances;
Research within the embodied cognition framework, including the processing and representation of
specific concepts, and the interaction between higher-level cognitive processes (such as numerical
cognition) and motor systems;
Studies in visual perception, including adaptation and aftereffects, and the relationship between
imagery and perception.
